Initially, i thought they were too light for driving. However, vision through the lenses made objects and the landscape appear sharper. When driving in overcast conditions, it was not necessary to remove the sunglasses and visibility was good.

Thanks for your feedback, as both issues can be easily resolved.
If the glasses slip down, all you need to do is bend the temple arms slightly inward, as shown in video #2 on our fit and care page: https://www.sanofan.com/tips/
As for the darkening level, the lenses darken to about 11% VLT, similar to most category 3 sunglasses, and are designed to soothe your eyes in sunlight. Since amber and copper tints enhance contrast, your eyes may need a little time to adjust to the color.

Since they are sunglasses, the lenses have a base tint with a VLT of about 30%, even in the shade. In direct sunlight, they darken to about 11% VLT, which is similar to most category 3 sunglasses. You can easily see the difference by covering part of a lens with the cleaning cloth and placing the glasses in the sun for a minute. After that, the contrast between the normal and darkened areas will be clearly visible.

Under those conditions, the time required to reach 80% of the base shade is only 2 minutes and 15 seconds, as measured in the quality report we include with every new batch. This is the standard way photochromic lenses are tested and our results are on par with other brands, including Transitions.

The frames are highly adjustable. In your case, you only need to move the nose pads slightly inward, which will make the frame sit a bit higher and away from your cheekbones. You can also bend the temple arms slightly inward so the glasses fit more securely.

I am an outside person, I fish,hunt, and golf. I work part time at a municipal golf course. So, I wear polarized sun shades every day and have for 40+ years. I have had and currently do have some expensive polarized suns shades. A little over a year ago I suffered a traumatic eye injury which resulted in a major vision loss that required a surgery. The injury damaged the iris in my eye and caused it to lose the ability to constrict allowing excessive light in my eye even indoors. Since the surgery that light sensitivity has intensified. While I’m outside with polarized shades everything is good. But indoors fluorescent lighting was making simple task difficult. Wearing polarized shades helped but were too dark. So I tried the sangam transition shades and they have helped a lot. Now I leave them on and the polarization is enough to screen some of the light. I think I will have to use them like a prescription. And I plan to purchase another pair for back up. Thank you sanofan.

Cover part of one lens with the cleaning cloth and place the glasses in the sun for a minute. When you remove the cloth, the difference between the exposed and covered areas will be very clear. As per our test report, they take just over 2 minutes to return to 80% of their base shade.

I’ve worn these biking, hiking, and golfing, and unlike some photochromic sunglasses, these glasses do in fact substantially change tint from cloudy to sunny conditions. The copper tint is dark enough for bright sunshine. Time and thought was put into the design, they sit light but solid on your face, and they appear well built and durable with quality lens. The light amber tint will not be for everyone’s taste, but if you can get beyond that, they are a good buy for the price.

The best way to notice the transition is with this simple test: Cover part of one lens with the cleaning cloth or a sticker, place the glasses in the sun for a minute, then remove the cover. I got these to use on overcast or lower light days so I can see better. They are very clear and if you are wearing a hat you can use even if very bright outside, but they are not going to get super dark. I got the yellow brown lens. As an engineer I appreciate the materials and design. I am tired of plastic glasses that eventually break. The metal frame looks and feels way more robust and nose pieces and lens look replaceable if needed. The metal frames have springs built into the arms that give a good firm fit and the glasses do not feel much heavier. Overall I am satisfied with the value.

I think the quality is very good for the sunglasses. The tint really does work, going from light to dark or dark to light. The frame seems well built and the temple arms are spring-loaded, so they flex outward. I like the aluminum-magnesium alloy frame compared to frames that are covered with rubber. I find that a cloth kind of sticks to a rubberized frame when trying to clean the lenses. The lenses are easier to clean with the aluminum-magnesium alloy frame. I fish a lot and the polarized lenses are very good for blocking out glare while on the water. The sunglasses come with a hard-cover case, which is very durable.

Unfortunately, the very first time I wore them on the golf course, they fell to the ground when I took my hat off and the right lense was scratched (nicked). I subsequently purchased another pair because the scratch was in my line of sight. Best sun glasses I e ever bought. Lightweight and affords great vision and depth perception on the course.

Getting used to the tint, won’t know if they are dark enough till I start fishing in October. I like the comfort and style.In a hot vehicle the metal arms getting extremely hot can’t put them on till ac cool them down.Started storing in case took care of that. Thanks for your feedback. The frame getting hot means the glasses were kept somewhere far too warm. Sunglasses, regardless of brand, should never be exposed to that much heat, since it can damage the lenses.

My golf club recently updated it’s golf cart fleet with new Club Car carts. When the cart windshield is folded down for summer the badly designed fold in the windshield reflects the sun directly into the cart riders eyes. I got these polarized sunglasses and they greatly help with the reflection. Also fine while playing golf, though I would prefer a greener tint.

Hi,
In their darkened state, FluidTint lenses have a VLT of 11%, which is the same as most sunglasses. A copper tint may appear lighter than grey, but your eyes are safe with both.
Each case includes a card with simple instructions on how to verify the color change:
Cover part of one lens, for example with the cleaning cloth we provide
Place the glasses outside for a minute
Remove the lens cover
You’ll be able to clearly see the difference between the base amber color and the darkened copper color.

I wore the FluidTint v2.0 glasses on a week long fishing trip to the Yellowstone Park area in August, 2026. The efficiency of the polarizing capability of the lenses was very good and they allowed good visibility of the stream bottoms compared to standard polarized sun glasses. The feature that changes the depth of tint in the lenses depending on lighting conditions also worked well, but the changes were not as rapid as shown on the Sanofan website nor were the levels of darkening as intense. I am pleased with the results, but would prefer glass lenses to avoid scratching. I recommend these glasses for folks that can keep the plastic lenses from damage.

The lenses darken to 11% VLT, which is the same as most sunglasses out there. The darkening speed is measured in the lab at a fixed temperature of 73.4 Fahrenheit (23 Celsius) under a UV light source and is on par with Transitions. In sunlight, the lenses darken gradually so your eyes have time to adapt.

Love these sunglasses! They are as described, light in low light conditions and darken during bright light conditions. Clear with no distortions! They initially fit a little tight but followed the instructions to gently widen the frame and are now very comfortable.
